Suncor awards Jacobs engineering contract for possible in situ oil sands expansion

HOUSTON, Sept. 15 -- Suncor Energy Services Inc. has authorized Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Pasadena, Calif., to begin preliminary engineering that could lead to the expansion of Suncor's in situ oil sands facilities in Alberta (OGJ, March 15, 2004, p. 37). Suncor is a subsidiary of Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary.

The contract includes planning for operational debottlenecking and the potential addition of new operating facilities, including power-steam generation.
