Double Eagle hires chief operating officer

HOUSTON, Sept. 8 -- Double Eagle Petroleum Co., Casper, Wyo., announced the appointment of Peter M. Mueller as chief operating officer.

Prior to joining Double Eagle, Mueller served as the vice-president and general manager of Denver-based Westport Resource Corp.'s northern business unit before Westport's June 2004 merger with Kerr-McGee Corp. He also is chairman of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

He has worked for both majors and independents, including Amoco Production Co., Mobil Oil Co., Tenneco Oil Co., and Anadarko Petroleum Corp.
