Fluxys awards expansion contract for Belgian Zeebrugge LNG terminal

Brussels-based Fluxys SA has awarded a lump sum turnkey contract for the extension of the Belgian Zeebrugge LNG receiving terminal on the Belgian coast to ENI SPA unit Saipem SPA.

HOUSTON, Aug. 2 -- Brussels-based Fluxys SA has awarded a lump sum turnkey contract for the extension of the Belgian Zeebrugge LNG receiving terminal on the Belgian coast to ENI SPA unit Saipem SPA.

The terminal's capacity will be expanded to 9 billion cu m(bcm)/year of natural gas from its current capacity of 4.5 bcm/year of gas.

The work includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of the overall terminal facilities including a 140,000 cu m LNG storage tank and regasification facilities.

Expansion of the terminal is expected to be completed by yearend 2007.
