Chaparral Resources announces new chief financial officer

Chaparral Resources Inc., White Plains, NY, announced that Jonathan S. Wood was promoted to vice-president, finance, and chief financial officer.

HOUSTON, Jan. 12 -- Chaparral Resources Inc., White Plains, NY, announced that Jonathan S. Wood was promoted to vice-president, finance, and chief financial officer.

Wood succeeded Richard J. Moore, who resigned. Previously, Wood was finance director of the closed joint stock company, Karakudukmunai (KKM), Chaparral's operating subsidiary in Kazakhstan. He has been with KKM since 1998.

Chaparral's only operating asset is its development of Karakuduk field, of which Chaparral is the operator through KKM. Chaparral owns 60% interest in KKM, and joint stock company KazMunayGaz, a government-owned oil company, holds 40% interest.

Central Asia Industrial Holdings, a private investment holding company, holds a majority interest in Chaparral.
