Gulfstream Natural Gas System LLC, a joint venture of operator Williams Cos. Inc., Tulsa, and energy marketer Duke Energy Corp., Charlotte, NC, has begun mainline construction on its 110 mile pipeline extension from central Florida to the state's east coast. The extension will double Gulfstream's service area, enabling the delivery of more than 1 bcfd of natural gas to expanding markets across the state.

There is a compelling case to be made for oil prices remaining at $30-40/bbl (New York futures contract) through next year. The lower end of that range would suggest just the state of the physical fundamentals of oil markets today. The higher end rolls in a premium for fear of supply disruptions.

KPM also placed into service a $20 million, 58-mile natural gas pipeline between Montrose and Ouray, Colo.

A group led by Statoil ASA plans to build a cogeneration plant at the Mongstad refinery near Bergen, and a gas-fired unit at Tjeldbergodden in mid-Norway, along with an associated increase in methanol capacity. The group's overall investment requirement is 8.5 billion kroner, with Statoil shouldering 4 billion kroner.

The Aegean Lady Greek tanker, chartered by Lukoil Overseas Holding Ltd., has departed from South Ozereyka terminal near Novorossiysk to markets loaded with 134,900 tonnes of light CPC Blend crude from Karachaganak field in northwest Kazakhstan. The shipment, transported to the port via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) export pipeline system, represents Lukoil's first production share from the field.

Gaz de France has awarded a lump sum, turnkey contract to a joint venture of Italian oil services company Saipem SPA and French engineering firm Sofregaz to construct an LNG terminal at Fos Cavaou, on the southern French coast, about 50 km west of Marsiglia and nearby the existing Fos terminal.

Ras Laffan LNG Ltd. II, (RasGas II), Doha, has chartered another seven LNG carriers, which will bring the company's fleet to 13 when the final vessel is delivered by second quarter of 2008. A fourteenth is in the final stages of negotiation.
