  • 03/01/2004 -- McMoRan applies for deepwater LNG port at Main Pass energy hub
    McMoRan Exploration Co. subsidiary Freeport-McMoRan Energy LLC, New Orleans, Monday filed application to the US Coast Guard for authorization to develop a $440 million, deepwater LNG receiving terminal at its Main Pass energy hub (MPEH), 37 miles east of Venice, La.
  • 02/27/2004 -- Sonatrach to start two Skikda LNG trains by April, the third in July
    Two LNG processing trains at Skikda, Algeria, undamaged in a massive explosion Jan. 20 that destroyed three others (OGJ Online, Feb. 18, 2004), are expected to be back in operation by April, reported Algeria's state owned oil and gas company Sonatrach Friday. A third train, which had connections to the damaged trains, is scheduled to be on line this summer. The three trains will have a total capacity of about 3.5 billion cu m/year.

    Madrid-based Repsol-YPF SA is planning to construct a $350 million LNG regasification plant at Port Lázaro Cárdenas, on Mexico's West Coast. One of Mexico's largest industrial ports, the site currently is the only port on the Pacific Coast with access to Mexico's national gas grid.
  • 02/18/2004 -- Algerian LNG complex explosion caused by gas pipeline leak
    A gas pipeline leak, not a boiler malfunction, was officially deemed the cause of an explosion last month at the Skikda, Algeria, LNG complex, Algerian Energy and Mines Minister Chakib Khelil told newsmen at a mining and environment seminar this week.
  • 02/17/2004 -- Millennium, Empire plan pipeline delivery expansion
    Columbia Gas Transmission, a unit of NiSource Inc. and operator of the Millennium pipeline, is planning a two-phase delivery expansion program whereby Buffalo, NY-based National Fuel Gas Co.'s Empire State Pipeline will be a key upstream supply link and Brooklyn-based KeySpan Corp., a major new anchor customer. KeySpan plans to subscribe for as much as 150 MMcfd of natural gas transportation service on Millennium.
  • 02/16/2004 -- Crystal Energy applies to USCG for LNG port off California
    Houston-based Crystal Energy LLC said it has submitted applications to the US Coast Guard and the California State Lands Commission for its 1bcfd Crystal Clearwater Port LNG project off California, initiating an environmental review process in about 30 days.

  • 02/09/2004 -- Ukrainian Cabinet decides against reversing Odessa-Brody pipeline
    The Ukrainian government has decided against reversing the Odessa-Brody crude oil pipeline. The decision reaffirmed Ukraine's intention to use the line to carry oil north from the Black Sea to Europe and eventually to the Baltic Sea.
