12/29/2004 -- Unocal reports GOM deepwater well results
Unocal Corp. has ended drilling operations at its prospect on Mississippi Canyon Block 941 in deepwater Gulf of Mexico where its Sequoia well, drilled to 29,100 ft TD, was completed as a dry hole.
12/29/2004 -- Statoil selects FMC to supply Tampen subsea systems
Statoil ASA has awarded a $74 million contract to FMC Kongsberg Subsea, a unit of AS FMC Technologies Inc., to supply subsea systems for the Tampen area in the North Sea.
12/28/2004 -- FCP reports gas-condensate well test results in Algeria
First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. reported production test results from exploration well MZLS-1, on FCP's 100% held Ledjmet Block 405b in Algeria.
12/23/2004 -- US rig count rebounds to 1,257 active units
US drilling activity rebounded, up by 23 rotary rigs to 1,257 working this week, said Baker Hughes Inc. on Dec. 23. The company's weekly rig count was issued early because of the Christmas holiday.
12/23/2004 -- Siberia's West Salym oil field starts flow
Salym Petroleum Development NV (SPD), Moscow, has begun oil production from wells in West Salym, the largest of the Salym group of oil fields in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug in western Siberia.
12/22/2004 -- Petro-Canada resumes Terra Nova production
Petro-Canada, which received Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board approval in mid-December to resume operation of its Terra Nova floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) platform, has restored production to the FPSO's 160,000 b/d preshutdown level.
12/20/2004 -- US drilling fluctuates with small dip
US drilling activity continued to fluctuate, dropping by 16 units with 1,234 rotary rigs working the week that ended Dec. 17, Baker Hughes Inc. reported. That compares with 1,112 rigs active during the same period a year ago.
12/17/2004 -- Beach-Anzon JV contract FPSO off Victoria
A joint venture of Beach Petroleum Ltd. and Anzon Australia Ltd. has entered a contract to use the floating production, storage, and offloading vessel Crystal Ocean for development of its Basker, Manta, and Gummy oil and gas fields in the Gippsland basin off Victoria.

ARC Energy Ltd., Perth, has brought on stream Xyris gas field in the northern Perth basin in Western Australia. Xyris is flowing 9.3 MMcfd.
12/15/2004 -- Independence Hub makes class choice for deepwater semi
Independence Hub LLC, an affiliate of Enterprise Products Partners LP, Houston, has selected the American Bureau of Shipping to class the Mississippi Canyon 920 Independence Hub, a semisubmersible facility destined for installation in 8,000 ft of water in the Gulf of Mexico (OGJ Online, Nov. 10, 2004).
12/14/2004 -- Protests block 100,000 b/d of production in Nigeria
Three flow stations operated by subsidiaries of Royal Dutch/Shell and ChevronTexaco Corp. in southeastern Rivers State, Nigeria, remained shut down Dec. 14, restricting delivery of more than 100,000 b/d of crude oil, said Shell spokesman Andy Corrigan.

Tullow Oil PLC, Dublin, reported that its Bangora-1 natural gas discovery well on Block 9 at Bangora, Bangladesh, flowed during a production test at a combined rate of 120 MMscfd of gas from its three lowest zones.
12/07/2004 -- Statoil boosts recoverable volumes for Sleipner West field
Statoil ASA, operator of Sleipner West oil field in the Norwegian North Sea, plans work to boost estimated recoverable volumes by 350 million boe and maintain gas production at its 775 MMscfd plateau level, reported partner ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Norway AS.
12/07/2004 -- Statoil isolates Snorre well, continues inspections
Statoil said it would be Dec. 13 before it could predict when Snorre A and its Vigdis satellite in the North Sea can resume production of 205,000 b/d of oil shut in since Nov. 28 (OGJ Online, Dec. 2, 2004).
