Physical fundamentals reassert themselves in oil markets

Oil markets appear to be edging back towards dominance by mundane physical fundamentals and away from incorporating a geopolitical price premium. If that trend grows in 2004, will the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries continue to succeed with a sustained price-defense strategy? Early indicators are that it will, albeit at a slightly lower price level than in 2003.
