Dow Chemical names Andrew Liveris president and chief operating officer

The board of Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., elected Andrew N. Liveris president and chief operating officer, effective immediately, the company said Tuesday.

HOUSTON, Nov. 11 -- The board of Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., elected Andrew N. Liveris president and chief operating officer, effective immediately, the company said Tuesday.

William S. Stavropoulos relinquished his role as president but continues as chairman and CEO.

Stavropoulos also announced the formation of an executive leadership team answering to the CEO office. In addition to Stavropoulos and Liveris, the team includes Arnold A. Allemang, executive vice-president, and J. Pedro Reinhard, executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Liveris's 27-year Dow career has spanned manufacturing, sales, marketing, new business development and management. He has worked in Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and the US. Since April 2000, he has been business group president of the performance chemicals portfolio.
