Yukos appoints new chief operating officer and chief information officer

By OGJ editors
HOUSTON, Sept. 2 -- OAO Yukos has appointed Steven Michael Theede as chief operating officer and Thomas Wayne Nicewarner as chief information officer.

Previously, Theede was ConocoPhillips president of exploration, production in Europe, Russia, and the Caspian. Before that, he worked for Conoco Inc. in numerous management positions in refining and marketing as well as exploration and production.

Nicewarner previously was Conoco's chief information officer in Houston. Before that, he held management posts in supply and transportation, marketing, natural gas and gas processing, and also was president of Conoco Venezuela SA.

Yukos and OAO Sibneft are in the process of merging into a new company that will be Russia's largest oil and gas company and also rank among the world's largest oil producers (OGJ, Apr. 28, 2003, p. 32). That deal is expected to close by Dec. 31.
