  • 04/24/2003 -- Puerto La Cruz refinery set to resume crude shipments to ConocoPhillips
    Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) has resumed operation of the atmospheric distillation unit (DA-2) at its Puerto La Cruz refinery in eastern Venezuela. Currently, the refinery is processing 170,000 b/d.
  • 04/22/2003 -- Williams expands Wyoming gas plant to process Shell production
    Engineering and procurement are under way on a fourth cryogenic processing train at a Williams Cos. gas plant in Opal, Wyo. The new cryogenic turbo expander plant will have a processing capacity of 350 MMcfd and will be capable of extracting more than 7,000 b/d of natural gas liquids.
  • 04/21/2003 -- Dominion, EPA agree on fines, air quality improvements to resolve NOV
    Dominion Resources Inc., Richmond, Va., has reached an agreement with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Justice, and the states of Virginia, West Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York whereby Dominion will pay $1.2 billion to improve air quality in those states to resolve lawsuits and a June 2000 EPA notice of (environmental) violation.

    Rompetrol Group NV (TRG), 25.1% owned by Austria's OMV AG, plans to invest $31 million in construction of a new oil terminal 7 km off Midia, Romania, in a bid to increase crude imports and reduce handling costs.

    Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Aramco) has awarded a turnkey contract to Snamprogetti SPA' s British subsidiary Snamprogetti Ltd. to build two new units at Aramco's Yanbu refinery in Saudi Arabia.

    The US Environmental Protection Agency Tuesday proposed industry-supported nonroad low-sulfur diesel regulations.
  • 04/14/2003 -- Shell producing low-sulfur gasoline in Ontario, Quebec
    Shell Canada Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell Canada Ltd., officially opened low-sulfur gasoline hydrotreaters April 4 at its refineries in Sarnia, Ont., and Montréal-East, Que., reducing sulfur in gasoline by 9%. The $150 million gasoline hydrotreater projects were completed in December 2002.

    Some US states, especially in the Northeast and on the West Coast, are growing increasingly worried that current reformulated gasoline (RFG) rules will help drive retail prices to record highs before June. Congress may retool the RFG rules before then as part of a comprehensive energy bill.

  • 04/07/2003 -- OMV selects BGP for Miano field 3D seismic survey
    OMV AG—operator of the Miano lease in Pakistan's Sukkur district—has received approval from state-owned Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL) to award a 3D seismic survey contract to the Chinese firm Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting. BGP will undertake the survey over a 250 sq km area to delineate the 'B' sand reservoir on the prospect.

    Three Abu Dhabi National Oil Corp subsidiaries—Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co. Ltd. (Adgas), Abu Dhabi Marine Operations Co., and Adnoc Distribution—jointly are developing a project on Das Island to replace gasoline with compressed natural gas in vehicles by 2004 and to introduce CNG in Abu Dhabi city, OPECNA News Services reported.
