Operator Total acquired the acreage in two tracts in the government's May 2002 lease sale.
-- Petrobras charters offshore rigs, platforms following tax dispute Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras), Brazil's state-owned oil company, reported that it has signed international contracts chartering offshore drilling and production units despite the Brazilian Internal Revenue Service's contention (on the basis of the second article of Law 9,537/97) that such rigs cannot be classified as sea-going vessels and therefore should not be chartered but leased.
-- Woodside awards Enfield FPSO hull contract Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded a contract to Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd. of South Korea to construct the hull for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its Enfield oil development off Western Australia.
-- Kerr-McGee acquires deepwater E&P licenses off Bahamas Two affiliates of Kerr-McGee Corp., Oklahoma City, acquired 100% interest in nine oil and gas exploration and production licenses in the Blake Plateau basin about 100 miles north of Freeport, Grand Bahamas Island, company officials said Thursday.
