  • 08/08/2003 -- Petrobras declares Caravela Sul discovery commercial
    Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) and its partners on Block BS-3, in the Santos basin 175 km off Santa Catarina state in southern Brazil, sent a filing to Brazil's National Petroleum Agency Wednesday declaring the commerciality of its Caravela Sul discovery made by well 1-SCS-10 A earlier this year (OGJ Online, Jan. 17, 2003).

  • 07/10/2003 -- Etame production off Gabon reduced further
    Pan-Ocean Energy Corp. Ltd., St. Helier, Jersey, reported Wednesday that Houston-based Vaalco Gabon (Etame) Inc, operator of Etame field off Gabon, has temporarily shut in production from a second well, ET- 1VA, due to a malfunctioning downhole safety valve. A remotely operated vehicle is scheduled to arrive at the field around July 13, at which time the cause of the malfunctions can be determined and remedial work undertaken to restore the wells to production.
  • 07/08/2003 -- Ivanhoe Energy to test new process for upgrading heavy oil production
    Ivanhoe Energy Inc., Vancouver, BC, has contracted with Boston-based Ensyn Petroleum International to have Ensyn test its Rapid Thermal Processing technology which upgrades the quality of heavy oil by producing lighter crude oil.
