  • 09/23/2003 -- Norsk Hydro starting up two North Sea oil fields
    Norsk Hydro ASA, Oslo, began oil production Tuesday from giant Grane field on Block 25/11 off Norway and plans to start output from Fram Vest field in October.
  • 07/28/2003 -- Nigeria's Yoho oilfield development well ahead of schedule
    ExxonMobil Corp. unit Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and its joint venture partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp., have begun production from Yoho field off Nigeria 2 years ahead of full field start-up, reported OPEC News Agency. The field, on shallow-water Oil Mining Lease 104, has estimated reserves of 400 million bbl of oil (OGJ Online, Sept. 6, 2002).
  • 07/09/2003 -- Enhanced CBM Recovery, Coalbed C02 Sequestration Assessed
    Detailed reservoir studies of two enhanced coalbed methane recovery (ECBM) field projects in the San Juan basin of New Mexico provide an understanding of the reservoir mechanism of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2) injection into coalbeads, demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the ECBM and sequestration processes, and afford a basis for investigating the feasibility of CO2 sequestration in deep, unmineable coalbeds.

    Murphy Oil Corp. said its West Patricia oil field in Block SK 308 off Sarawak, Malaysia, has come on stream according to schedule and within budget. Production started 16 months after the project was sanctioned.
  • 05/05/2003 -- ConocoPhillips starts production from McAdam gas field in North Sea
    ConocoPhillips (UK) Ltd. began natural gas production of 60-65 MMscfd Apr. 27 from McAdam gas field in the southern North Sea.
  • 05/19/2003 -- ConocoPhillips, Anadarko to expand Alpine capacity in Alaska
    ConocoPhillips Alaska and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Friday reported plans to increase the oil production capacity of Alpine field on Alaska's North Slope beginning in late 2004.
  • 04/10/2003 -- Shell Canada re-resumes production at Muskeg River Mine
    Shell Canada Ltd. resumed bitumen production Apr. 4 at its Muskeg River Mine 75 km north of Fort McMurray, Alta., following Train 1repairs at a froth treatment plant damaged in a Jan. 6 fire.

    Natural gas production from Nam Phong, Thailand's first commercial gas field operated by a unit of ExxonMobil Corp., could last beyond 2010, albeit at declining rates.

    Water injection testing is under way in a central Kansas oil field to determine if carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery is an effective means of retrieving millions of barrels of trapped oil.
  • 02/14/2003 -- CNPC unit to expand investment in Azerbaijan's Kursangi field
    A unit of China National Petroleum Corp. Ltd. plans to invest $80 million to rehabilitate Kursangi oil field 100 km southwest of Baku the Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Caspian News Agency.
  • 01/03/2003 -- ConocoPhillips, CNOOC begin production from Peng Lai field in China
    Phillips China Inc. (PCI), a subsidiary of ConocoPhillips, and China National Offshore Oil Corp. Ltd. (CNOOC) have begun first production from Peng Lai 19-3 field in China's Bohai Bay. Phillips China is operator with 49%, and CNOOC holds 51%.
  • 01/09/2003 -- Fire at Muskeg River mine delays first Athabasca bitumen production
    Deliveries of bitumen from the Athabasca oil sands have been delayed following a brief fire Jan. 6 at the Muskeg River mine 75 km north of Fort McMurray, Alta.
