Trident Exploration farms into Alberta coalbed methane prospect

By the OGJ Online Staff

HOUSTON, Jan. 9 -- Trident Exploration Corp., Calgary, has farmed into Calgary-based Promax Energy Inc.'s Cessford gas properties in Alberta to explore for coalbed methane.

Trident will bear all costs of a 12-well pilot program, earning the right to begin a commercial drilling project, said Promax.

The Promax acreage hosts interesting shallow and deeper coal seams, said Promax.

"The extensive technical experience of the Trident group and the local industry experience of both the American and Canadian personnel will provide a thorough review of the coalbed methane potential underlying our Cessford shallow gas play," said Alex Lemmens, president and CEO of Promax.

"The extensive and contiguous Promax land position, coupled with its database of logs, samples, and seismic lines, will allow Trident to move rapidly in identifying the most prospective areas and starting a pilot project," said Jon Baker, president of Trident Exploration Corp. "Access to the Promax gas infrastructure and drilling economies will enhance the commercial potential for CBM development."
