    Apache Corp., Houston, reported its Gibson and South Plato fields in the Carnarvon basin off Northwest Australia are on production, flowing at a combined rate of 22,265 b/d of oil from two wells.
  • 07/02/2002 -- Pride awarded drilling contracts in Caspian Sea, Gulf of Mexico
    Operators have awarded drilling contracts related to world-class projects off Kazakhstan and in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico to Pride International Inc., Houston.
  • 08/02/2002 -- NY oil drilling ban moves forward
    US Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) said Thursday they are hopeful the full Senate will soon permanently ban oil and gas exploration and drilling in the 16,000-acre New York Finger Lakes National Forest.

    ConocoPhillips and its partners have begun natural gas production from Hawksley field in the southern North Sea. It's the first Carboniferous discovery there to be produced by subsea technology.
  • 12/23/2002 -- KCA Deutag wins new Sakhalin Island contract
    South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries, which holds the main contract for drilling package fabrication for the Sakhalin-1 project in the Russian Far East, has awarded a subcontract to Houston-based KCA Deutag Drilling Inc., a division of Abbot Group PLC, for the detailed design of drilling facilities.
  • 12/17/2002 -- Forest Oil initiates Redoubt Shoal production
    Forest Oil Corp., which holds a 100% working interest in Redoubt Shoal field in the Cook Inlet of Alaska, has begun production from the field.
  • 12/18/2002 -- ConocoPhillips, BP producing from new Kuparuk River field extension
    ConocoPhillips subsidiary ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc. and BP Exploration (Alaska). have started production sooner than expected from Drill Site 3S (the Palm exploration wells) in Kuparuk River field.
