HOUSTON, Sept. 26 -- Preem Raffinaderi AB has awarded Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. of the UK a $34 million contract for engineering and procurement of a isomerization unit revamp at its Gothenburg, Sweden, refinery.

The revamp will debottleneck the existing isomerization process and improve the octane level of gasoline to meet requirements of future European Union gasoline regulations.

The project consists of the revamp of the existing Penex unit, the addition of a new Molex unit, and associated interconnecting services.

Work has begun on the revamp, which is due completion in the summer of 2002. The refinery capacity is 106,000 b/d.
