HOUSTON, Aug. 16 -- Centurion Energy International Inc., Calgary, said Gelgel-1 well in Egypt was tested from two zones at a combined maximum rate of 31 MMcfd of gas over 72 hr.
The test from the two zones was through a 7/8-in. choke with average wellhead pressure of 1,100 psi. The test yielded no water or impurities.
The well, in the El Manzala concession, is temporarily shut in for pressure buildup. Centurion will then carry out full analysis of pressure data.
Said Arrata, Centurion's president and CEO, said, "The Gelgel-1 discovery significantly increases reserves in the southern part of the El Manzala concession and will expedite the development program for the area. The development plan will now combine the Gelgel discovery with the nearby Abu Monkar gas field discovered in 1998."
Upon approval from the government, Centurion will begin pipeline construction to tie-in gas from Gelgel and Abu Monkar to the national grid.
In the meantime, the rig has moved to Fasada-1 prospect 12 km southeast of Gelgel-1.
