HOUSTON, Feb. 28�Occidental Permian Ltd. was the top oil producer in Texas last year, while ExxonMobil Corp. was the second oil producer and the top gas producer statewide, Austin-based Texas Railroad Commission statistics show.
The commission governs the Texas oil industry.
For average daily oil production, Occidental Permian Ltd. led Texas producers with 156,178 b/d, about 14.3% of the oil produced statewide. ExxonMobil followed with an average production of 59,153 b/d or 5.4%.
Other top oil producers were Texaco E&P Inc. with 38,158 b/d; Marathon Oil Co., 32,836 b/d; Mobil Producing TX & NM Inc., 30,874 b/d; Amerada Hess Corp., 30,516 b/d; Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc., 28,367 b/d; Chevron USA Inc., 26,798 b/d; Apache Corp., 22,018 b/d; and Pure Resources LP, 19,580 b/d.
For average daily gas production, ExxonMobil led Texas producers with 858,344 Mcfd, representing nearly 6.6% of total state production. Conoco Inc. was second with 703,921 Mcfd, or nearly 5.4% of statewide gas production.
Other top gas producers were Coastal Oil & Gas Corp. with 651,958 Mcfd; RME Petroleum Co., 498,837 Mcfd; EOG Resources Inc., 438,688 Mcfd; Mitchell Energy Co. LP, 367,014 Mcfd; Texaco E&P Inc., 335,770 Mcf; Chevron USA. Inc., 327,941 Mcfd; Phillips Petroleum Co., 319,663 Mcfd; and Shell Western E & P Inc., 302,395 Mcfd.
