Pertamina taking more gas for Duri steamflood

CALGARY´┐ŻUnits of Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. and Talisman Energy Inc., both of Calgary, have completed an agreement with Pertamina of Indonesia to supply additional gas from the Corridor Block contract to the Duri steamflood operated by Caltex in central Sumatra.

The agreements provide for 1.1 tcf of gas to be delivered over 19 years. The gas will be exchanged for Duri crude oil at 8 Mcf/bbl.

Gas will be supplied from the Suban Field in the Corridor Block in south Sumatra after construction of field facilities and a trunkline from the field to the Grissik gas plant. It will be delivered to Duri via an existing 338-mile pipeline operated by PT Perusahaan Gas Negaram, which will install additional compression.

Startup of gas deliveries is expected in late 2002. The additional volumes of 120 MMcfd. by 2003 will supplement 305 MMcfd already contracted with Caltex, for a total of 425 MMcfd.

Contract quantities will increase to 180 MMcfd by mid-2003 to offset a planned decline of 245 MMcfd in the original agreement with Caltex.

Units of the Canadian companies involved in the contracts are Gulf Indonesia Resources Ltd. and Talisman (Corridor) Ltd.
