ExxonMobil Corp. has signed an LNG supply deal with Turkey. Per the agreement with BOTAŞ, ExxonMobil will supply 2.5 million tonnes/year of LNG for 10 years.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar attended the signing ceremony held in Washington DC between BOTAŞ and ExxonMobil.

On a Republic of Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources social media account, Minister Bayraktar said the US "is one of the important countries from which we currently supply LNG," and that with the agreement, Turkey takes "another step in diversifying our resources."

Minister Bayraktar said the country is “in a position to meet at least half of the natural gas needed as LNG by ships, especially with the advanced natural gas infrastructure” put into place in recent years.

The deal comes as the country works to “maximize the security and diversity of supply by adding new ones to the long-term contracts we have with Nigeria in the past and Algeria and Oman today,” he continued.
